From premiering my first documentary at the Obama White House to investing in almost a dozen companies by the time I was 30, to interviewing Michelle Obama on stage in front of 8,000 people in 2019, to being named to Oprah’s Super Soul 100 for the impact of our documentary, I’ve accomplished so many bucket list and dream goals over the last decade.
I’m here to support you in whatever stage you are at in your life right now.
So whether you feel like you’re facing an insurmountable storm, or you’re currently watching all your dreams unfold but wondering if you can truly sustain it all without sacrificing your own health and happiness… I see you.
But in the midst of all the highs, there were these intense lows of pain, and turmoil, and illness.
The same year my documentary premiered, I was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer and had to undergo two invasive surgeries. When I became cancer-free, I hustled harder than ever. A few months later, I got sick again with a neurological illness and lost vision in my left eye.
I decided to pick up my entire life and career in New York City and move back home to Canada in order to support myself and my wellness.

Facing systems that were not built for you. To be gaslit in the workplace, to have your lived experiences ignored, to be in communities where you feel totally unsafe, because no one looks like you.
It’s how I was able to transform my life, build confidence, and step into the fullest expression of myself.
But I couldn’t just look at one area of my life. I had to look at the key foundations that needed my time, attention, and focus. And that’s exactly what we’ll do together inside The Next Right Step. .

I have seen a lot of leadership courses out there, but they all seemed to lack that human element. The way [The Next Right Step] was curated made the content feel accessible and for the first time I had ever seen it, framed leadership in a way that brought it back to self. It's not only the content which was truly invaluable but the COMMUNITY.
I felt for the first time like I wasn't alone, I felt seen and understood. The struggles, the challenges, the little victories which usually feel not worthy of celebrating; there was an entire community who were right there with me on this journey. It was such a transformational experience.
Through my own lived experience (and validated by research in Positive Psychology), I’ve found that there are six core areas of your life that serve as your foundation. Your habits and systems in these areas keep you sustained and well, so you can succeed and thrive through adversity and through those periods of flying high.
The mistake I see most folks make while trying to improve their confidence is they don’t know where to focus or where to start.
But when you lock into the key areas of your life that make the most impact, you can make sustainable changes without burning out, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling like you aren’t making any progress.

I often say The Next Right Step is the program I wish I could have taken when I was facing some of my hardest times. And that’s because it is.
In eight weeks, I’m walking you through what it took me years to discover about incorporating routines and tools into my life that worked for what I truly wanted in life and work and helped me protect my mental health and well-being.
The intention is to feel well in mind and body, have a healthy and purposeful relationship to work, and to feel grounded in identity, so you can make the impact you want to make on this world.
It took me going through all that I went through to ask: is there another way to do this? Is there a way to help other folks do this too?

• Cultivate a support system and strengthen your existing relationships so you can continue to have a community that is a part of your journey.

This is the heartbeat of the roots of resilience. It’s a research-backed process to gaining confidence. Because the truth is, if you’re feeling like you lack confidence, it's not because you don’t believe in yourself… it’s because systems of oppression are set up to make sure you don’t believe.

• Connect to your heritage and culture, so you can root into your purpose and identity and establish your “why” that guides you.
• Define your commitments to your community (including your commitments to anti-oppression and anti-racism) and create a plan to take consistent action toward those commitments.
Inside The Next Right Step, we’re not just talking about how to create the life you dream of — we’re actually planning it! You’ll create a holistic blueprint that defines the actions you’ll take in each root of resilience, so you know the exact next steps to take toward your dream lifestyle and next level self.
Planning and Organizing Your Best Year Yet
• Outline your actionable wellness and work goals that focus on all parts of you, so you have a holistic plan in place.
• Identify the key actions to take in order to move toward those goals.
• Build in accountability so you can stay on track with your goals

Your investment includes six 2.5 hour live workshops with Komal that walk through each of the 6 core areas of life so you can start setting goals, building your confidence, and implementing systems of support in each area, the Roots of Resilience Workbook to guide you through the workshops and help you create an actionable plan to move forward, a private digital community where you can ask questions, connect with others in the program, and get support in-between sessions, Lifetime access to the workshop recordings and curriculum so you can revisit it whenever you want, and a community social with your fellow Next Right Step members, so you can deepen your connection to this incredible community.
You’ll also receive the Best Year Yet Weekend Retreat, a virtual retreat where we’ll map out and create an actual plan for your best year yet, lifetime access to our Might Network Alumni Community, so you can stay connected to the community after the program concludes, One Year of Quarterly Check In Calls + Recordings to make sure you’re on track with your goals and feel fully supported as you root into your resilience, and Pre-Recorded Weekly Meditations to help you stay centered, focused, and well as you step into all you are destined to become.
Sessions will run weekly from November 1st to December 20th and we will decide on our weekly meeting times once registration is closed to best accommodate everyone’s schedules.
As a reminder, all sessions are recorded and available within 48-hours to be viewed.
While I encourage you to do your best to take this time for yourself (you deserve it!), I understand that sometimes life happens and you won’t be able to attend every single call. If you’re not able to join us live, you can watch the replay that will be available 48-hours after the live workshop for you to watch at your convenience. If you need to leave an event early, all I ask is that you exit the online space respectfully. To ensure the best possible experience for all attendees, there will be a five minute grace period at the beginning of each workshop to allow everybody to get settled in.
